A Solo Wellness Retreat at Stanly Ranch
A Relaxing 3-Day Weekend in Napa Valley
Sometimes the best travel experiences are the ones we take alone. My visit to Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection in Napa Valley began with a simple intention: slow down, reset, and reconnect with a few healthy habits. I was hoping for fresh food, time for enjoyable exercise, and quiet moments to read, journal, and enjoy the beauty of the landscape.
Stanly Ranch turned out to be the perfect setting. Over a few restorative days surrounded by vineyards and wide-open skies, I found myself biking through peaceful trails, lingering over farm-fresh meals, and watching the sun set behind the hills. By the time I left, I felt relaxed, recharged, and inspired to carry some of that wellness mindset back into everyday life.
A Modern Resort Designed for Wellness
From the moment you arrive, Stanly Ranch feels calm and intentional. The property has a modern aesthetic—clean lines, warm natural materials, and beautifully landscaped grounds that blend seamlessly with the surrounding vineyards.
The atmosphere encourages you to slow down. Walking paths wind through gardens and open spaces, and the property feels expansive and peaceful rather than crowded.
The staff throughout the resort were also exceptionally kind and helpful, adding to the relaxed and welcoming feeling that defines the entire experience.
A Perfect Setting for a Solo Retreat
While Stanly Ranch works well for couples and families, I found it especially wonderful for a solo wellness getaway. Traveling alone meant I could follow my own rhythm—waking up early to bike through the vineyards, taking a fitness class in the afternoon, or spending an hour reading on my patio. There was space to breathe and enjoy the moment.
If you’re looking for a destination where you can truly recharge and spend meaningful time with yourself, Stanly Ranch offers an environment that makes that easy.

Beautiful Rooms Designed for Rest
My room felt like a private retreat in itself. It was spacious and thoughtfully designed, with a comfortable bed, cozy sitting area, and a modern bathroom. A few details made the room especially restful:
A private patio with a fire pit (easy to turn on)
Blackout drapes for deep sleep
A selection of pillows to choose from
Natural lighting and connection to the outdoors that feels private
I slept incredibly well during my stay—one of the best indicators that a hotel room truly works.

Outstanding Food at Bear Restaurant
Dining was one of the highlights of the stay. The resort’s main restaurant, Bear, was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed both breakfast and dinner there, and each meal felt special. The atmosphere is lively but still warm and welcoming, and the food beautifully reflects Napa Valley’s farm-to-table culture. Dishes were often presented with flowers or herbs from the onsite garden, and everything tasted incredibly fresh.
Beyond Bear, I also loved the resort’s café, Gavel. It’s perfect for a casual breakfast or snack, with great coffee, fresh salads, and some of the best pastries I’ve had in a long time. Even the in-room dining impressed me with its quality and thoughtful presentation.

Wellness at the Halehouse Spa
The Halehouse spa is another centerpiece of the resort’s wellness experience. Inside, you’ll find a sauna with beautiful views, a steam room, and a unique salt room designed to promote relaxation and respiratory health. The entire space feels tranquil and restorative. Even without spending a full day in the spa, the atmosphere invites you to slow down and take care of yourself.

Fitness Classes, Biking, and Outdoor Activities
One of the things I loved most about Stanly Ranch was how easy it was to stay active. The resort offers a gym and a variety of complimentary fitness classes—and the instructors were fantastic. During my stay I tried:
Yoga
Pilates
A very relaxing sound bath
Each teacher created a welcoming and calming environment, making the classes feel accessible whether you’re experienced or just starting out.
Another highlight was the complimentary bikes available to guests. The trails around the property are relatively flat and car-free, winding through vineyards and open fields. My morning ride through the vineyards was one of the most memorable moments of the entire trip.

Quiet Pools and Relaxing Spaces
Stanly Ranch has multiple pools, each with a different atmosphere. The Lavender pool can be lively, making it a great choice for families or groups traveling together. For me, the adult pool was a perfect spot—quiet, peaceful, and ideal for relaxing with a book.
Having both options allows the resort to work well for many different types of travelers.

Sunset at Infinity Hill
One of the most special places on the property is Infinity Hill. At the top sits a massive Corten steel infinity sculpture created by artist Gordon Huether. The hill overlooks the surrounding landscape, making it a lovely spot to watch sunrise or sunset.
One evening I walked up just before sunset, and the sky slowly turned shades of gold and pink as the sun dipped behind the hills. It was the kind of beautiful moment that reminds you why travel and taking time for yourself can be so meaningful.
A Few Fun Touches
Stanly Ranch also has small experiences that add personality to the stay. They offer cooking and mixology classes, wine tastings and more.
One unexpected highlight was feeding the chickens on the property—simple, charming, and a reminder that this is still very much working farmland. These little details make the resort feel connected to the surrounding landscape.

A few practical details can help plan your visit:

Is Stanly Ranch Worth It?
There’s no denying that Stanly Ranch is an expensive place to stay. However, it also feels truly special. Between the thoughtful design, incredible food, wellness experiences, and peaceful surroundings, the overall experience was extremely memorable.
One helpful tip: the resort sometimes offers discounted seasonal rates. I visited in March and was able to find a lower rate, which made the stay feel like an even better value.

My solo stay at Stanly Ranch, Auberge Resorts Collection was exactly the reset I had hoped for. Between biking through vineyards, enjoying beautiful farm-fresh meals, and watching quiet sunsets, I left feeling calmer, healthier, and inspired to bring some of that wellness energy back into daily life.
